Wow, we have had a crazy Spring! That is why it is the middle of Summer and I am just now posting about it. We worked really hard to enjoy our last few weeks in the Midwest. We made the trek east and we are officially back to our "real" life in Maryland. We are unpacked and settling in. It is nice to be in Maryland again but there was definitely some heartache over leaving Wisconsin and all of our friends there. It was the first time that Truman showed any distress over moving. He loved it there, his school and his friends were awesome. But he is a trooper and has bounced back already.
So one of the things we did before leaving was to take a quick trip to Illinois. Our first stop was in Chicago, where we attended the Temple, went to the Lego Discovery Center and ate perhaps the best Middle Eastern Food Ever.
Then we went to Springfield, Illinois. Perhaps you are wondering why? Well, for once in our married life we went to a (an?) historical site that I was yearning to see...
Abraham Lincoln's House!!
It was so cool! They have about four blocks of historical homes that you can walk through and a few that you can tour. We also lucked out because there were re-en-actors there the day we visited.
And I loves me some re-en-actors!!!
Perhaps the best part was the realistic pile of amputated arms!
Jack loved it, Truman...not so much.
As we were driving home we saw a sign that said Des Moines this way. We just went ahead and took the turn and headed to Des Moines, for one last visit to the Isaak homestead.
As always, we had a sing along...
That soon turned into a parade.
Looking at these pictures is making me miss these guys!!
Except this one. This one just makes me laugh!

How did I miss Abe Lincoln's home? That is unacceptable. I really like the first picture.
Love that photo of Truman with the arms!
