Truman 2010: the 6 Year Old Version

Favorite Phrase: Smokin' Hot Babies (He made this up himself. Weird? A little bit. Funny? Absolutely.)
Favorite Food: Pork Chops and Rice or a Tuna Fish Sandwich (Seriously he would choose these over a hamburger and fries!)
Favorite Game: Age of Empires II or Trouble (He would play AofE II for days on end if we let him, now we use it as a way to get him to keep his room clean. He likes Trouble because he beats us at it every time. For real, EVERY TIME!)
Favorite Toy: Legos, Legos, Legos. (I am eternally grateful to Jack's obsessive nature which caused him to save all of his legos in good condition from his childhood. This has probably saved us hundreds of dollars.)
Favorite Activity: Crafts! (He loves to cut, glue, paint and draw.)
Favorite TV Shows: The Electric Company, This Old House, Nova, & Various PBS Cartoons (Can you tell that we watch a lot of Public Television?)
Favorite Person: Apparently it is El Cid (I just asked him, thinking, in my vanity, that it would be me, but obviously his obsession with AofE II has taken an ugly turn!)

The (little) Man of the Hour, Day, Week, Month!

Well the time has come again for us to celebrate the existence of our son Truman. And we like to do it with style. Since the blasted weather plotted against our party plans and we had to move it back a week we ended up having two celebrations. One with just the three of us, snowed in with cake and presents and then an official party a week later. This year Truman requested a caveman party because he likes "ancient things". This theme presented a challenge for me since apparently no other kid ever wanted a caveman party before. So I could not lean on other people's ideas. In the end I think it was fun and worth the effort.

Snow-a-thon

Why?!
Why, has there been so much snow in Maryland this year! This storm started on Friday afternoon and continued until Saturday night and we had over two feet of snow! Madness! Jack and I have been slowly digging our car out and it is finally free today! Yesterday we walked over to a friend's house and had a small sacrament meeting (we had permission from our Bishop, of course) with ward members who live in our neighborhood. It was especially nice since this was our second week without church. We may even venture out to a store today. No word yet, as to whether or not the Federal Government will be up and running tomorrow and require Jack to go back to work. Or if the schools will be open. But we are expecting more snow Tuesday and Wednesday so they will probably just shut down again anyway. I am not really complaining, I am just amazed at how snow can shut down an entire state!
